ASAE closes ‘illegal’ suckling pig vendor in Elvas

An operation in Elvas involving the slaughter and subsequent roasting for onward sale of suckling pigs has been closed down by ASAE (food and safety standards authority). Two men were arrested and charged with crimes against public health; 23 piglets were seized (it is not clear whether these were dead or alive) as well as sundry packing material.
