Art fair helps orphans have happier Christmas

The International Art Fair is taking place at Expoalgarve in Loulé from November 29 to December 1, showcasing the work of many artists living in the Algarve.

The fair, organised by ARTE ALGARVE, will feature a special charity event called The Tree of Love where guests will be invited to bring a gift to be placed under a giant Christmas tree decorated by artists António da Cunha, Stela Barreto and Meinke Flesseman.

A choir will sing traditional Christmas carols while children from orphanages in the Algarve will be invited to receive the gifts from under the Christmas tree.

Organisers selected orphanages that were desperately in need of help. “It will be a wonderful thing for the orphans to receive a wrapped up present; it will mean so much more to them than a donation of money,” said Rolf Osang from ARTE ALGARVE.

Rolf would like to encourage visitors to the fair to bring along a wrapped gift stating whether it is for a boy or girl and suitable age group.

The fair will take place from 3pm until 10pm on each day of the fair and the choir will perform carols at 9pm while the children receive their gifts.

The Algarve Resident is proud to be the English language media partner for this event.
