The Lady in Red Art Gallery in Lagoa will host an auction of the art of the 21 finalists of the Sovereign Art Foundation’s Students Prize Algarve 2019 on Saturday, May 11.
The event begins at 12pm with the popular band KGB playing classic ‘Kool Grooves ‘n Blues’ in the lounge bar where visitors can relax with a drink at the opening of the Gallery’s new season of ‘Art and Music’ to be held at this amazing venue.
At 2pm Sovereign will announce the winners of this year’s Prize with three talented students and their schools being awarded prizes totaling 3,100€.
The auction begins at 3pm to raise funds for the artists themselves and Sovereign’s chosen charity for this Prize, the Rotary Clube de Silves School Art Projects workshops. The standard of the art submitted to the Prize has been outstanding and Sovereign is proud to be able to promote the work created by the young students of the Algarve and to be able to give something back to the local community.
In the last two years the Algarve Prize has raised 3,670€ and to make the 2019 Prize even more successful Sovereign are inviting the public to join them at the Gallery and to hopefully bid on the work of these artists of the future.
This is the 3rd Prize held in the Algarve on behalf of the Sovereign Art Foundation (SAF), a non-profit organization and registered charity, established in 2003, initially in Asia, to recognise the growing wealth of contemporary art talent and bring the proven benefits of expressive arts to underprivileged children. The Foundation has so far raised more than US$ 8 million (around €7.1 million) for artists and charities worldwide that use art as a means of education, rehabilitation and therapy for children and their families, that have been affected by war, poverty or abuse.
