Health minister Marta Temido has been called to parliament to explain why cancer patients are not receiving care in line with national health guidelines. In the Algarve, for instance, at least one patient has died waiting for vital tests that should have been given as a priority (click here), while elsewhere health regulators have found that around 20% of patients are receiving much-needed surgeries ‘outside acceptable time limits’.
