An initiative to identify the “most vulnerable and isolated residents” of Olhão’s Armona Island is currently being carried out by the town’s council and maritime police.
Its goal is to make it easier for authorities to provide support for elderly or disabled people through “home visits and/or phone calls”.
So far, nine people have been identified, though further efforts to identify people-in-need are expected.
