A Barreiro chemist was the target of an unusual robbery last week. A man in a hoodie burst in late one evening, just as the place was due to close, and threatened clients and the pharmacist with a knife.
The terrified woman on duty immediately opened the till and gave her assailant all the takings – a reported €435. What was unusual was the fact that the man then hopped on a bicycle, and pedalled away.
Police were called quickly but according to news reports, the push-bike robber was nowhere to be seen.
