A lawyer and a woman teacher suffered a night of terror when four masked men armed with hunting rifles broke into their luxury villa in Cerro da Águia, Albufeira, and robbed them of money, jewellery, gold items and credit cards.
The terrified couple were forced to open a safe containing valuables and the lawyer was beaten and threatened with a gun to reveal the pin codes of the bank cards, which he couldn’t remember but his partner was able to supply the numbers, reported Correio da Manhã newspaper.
One of the gang members then left the scene to confirm the codes and drew money from a multibanco machine before returning to the scene of the crime.
The four criminals had smashed open the door of the property to gain entry after the victims had fled inside as they arrived back at the villa at around 10pm to be confronted by the men.
The four villains made their getaway in a Mitsubishi Pajeroand a car belonging to the victims which was later traced.
Police are investigating the crime.
