“Armed and dangerous” drug trafficker on the run in Faro

A suspected drug trafficker – one of seven men targeted in a police swoop near Faro yesterday – remains on the run this afternoon, with as many as 40 police agents on his trail.
The 30-year-old, described as armed and dangerous, managed to evade arrest after a mega police operation raided nine local homes, most of them in the rundown Horta da Areia area.
The raid, which followed months of police surveillance, seized hashish, heroin, cocaine, cash and other related drug paraphernalia.
Six men were taken into custody – all apparently well known to police – and now the hunt is on for the final member of the team.
Viola Silva, Faro’s PSP commander, appealed to anyone who knows the man’s whereabouts to contact police.
On no account are people advised to approach the wanted man, he said, as reiterated he is considered to be dangerous.
