Area’s problems discussed

Around 30 business owners and residents of Carvoeiro met at the Sociedade in the town on March 9 to discuss problems affecting the area, specifically in relation to parking.

Sian Hughes-Roberts, who has lived in the Algarve for 40 years and works in Carvoeiro, told the Algarve Resident: “There were a few British residents at the meeting but we need for more foreign residents to know about these meetings.”

The petition that has already been signed by more than 400 people will now be translated by Sian Hughes-Roberts into English and she hopes this will increase awareness among the foreign community.

“The lack of parking in the centre of the town is killing the trade as there is nowhere for tourists to stop. I know a lot of British residents are concerned about this and now there is an opportunity to make their views heard,” said Sian Hughes-Roberts.

The next meeting is due to take place on March 23 at the Sociedade in Carvoeiro at 8.30pm, where updates surrounding the petition and action against the parking situation will be discussed.
