Suspicions that Fernando Medina, now Portugal’s outgoing finance minister but formerly mayor of Lisbon, celebrated ‘direct contracts’ with Linklaters’ lawyers’ office, at the time owned by former economy minister Pedro Siza Vieira, have been archived – meaning, say reports, that Mr Medina has been exonerated. Indeed, every political figure mentioned in the investigation has thus been exonerated.
