Archaeological association opens autumn season

A lecture by archaeologist Jason Webster will start the Algarve Archaeological Association’s autumn season on October 12.

Speaking at two different venues on the day, Jason Webster’s lecture is entitled Guerra, Living in the Shadow of the Spanish Civil War.

The speaker has travelled to sites related to the Spanish Civil War, doing research for a book.

Ceuta, Badajoz, Belchite and Perpignan are just some of the sites.

Jason Webster will also discuss Spain’s recent attempts to come to terms with the legacy of the war and the tensions this has caused.

He is the author of four highly acclaimed books on Spain, including the best selling Duende which has been translated into 12 languages as well as being Book of the Week on BBC4.

Jason has also appeared in several TV documentaries on Spain and is a writer for the Observer, the Sunday Times, the Guardian and the Sunday Telegraph.

The first venue of the day will be the São Brás Museum from 2.30pm and the second venue the Convento in Lagoa at 6.30pm.

All are welcome to the lectures.  There is a charge of five Euros for visitors, which enables the association to have first class speakers and give grants to assist archaeological work to be carried out throughout Portugal.

Lunch prior to the São Brás lecture and dinner following the Lagoa event will be available.

Please phone Maxine to book space on 917 267 948 at either of

the events.
