AQUASHOW FAMILY waterpark, located in Quarteira, has just unveiled its plans to open a major new attraction this summer – the largest water-coaster in Europe. Only three others currently exist in the world, one in the US at Seaworld, one at Europa Park in Germany and another in Japan.
The water-coaster at Aquashow will measure 740 metres in length, taking passengers on a thrilling ride in and out of the water. Passengers, transported in mini-boats, will ascend 23.5 metres, before enjoying the descent, at a speed of over 75kph, and the enormous splash when they hit the water! The water-coaster is expected to open to the public in June of this year, in time for the busy summer season.
Speaking to The Resident, Aquashow’s commercial director, Sérgio Reis, explained: “We like to open a brand new attraction every year in order to keep the public interested. Last year, we opened Wildsnake, Slow River and the Mini-Golf. This year, we have the water-coaster, which is very exciting for us.”
Aquashow receives around half a million visitors a year, who enjoy such attractions as Gentle Slopes, Slow River (250 metres long), White Fall, Wild Snake, the Museum of Portuguese History, Mini-Golf and the newly-opened Oasis Tropical Park hosting many exotic birds, including flamingos and macaws, amid beautiful gardens.
Entrance costs 18 euros for adults and 15 euros for children and includes access to all the attractions. The park is open from 10am to 5.30pm everyday, except during July and August, when it is open until 6.30pm. For more information, visit www.aquashowpark.com or call 289 389 396.
