Apolinário promises to improve transport

news: Apolinário promises to improve transport

A PLEDGE to improve Faro’s public transport system is the cornerstone of Socialist Party (PS) candidate José Apolinário’s (pictured) campaign for the Algarve capital’s local elections.

Apolinário has promised that, by 2009, Faro will, once again, be at the forefront of urban passenger transport, especially catering for young people, the elderly and all those preferring to leave their cars at home.

He has announced that one of his priorities will be the completion of the second phase of the North Circular, so enabling more than 20,000 vehicles to be withdrawn from the city centre. He also wants to expand the number of buses and extend services until 9pm, boosting overall public transport at the expense of private transport.
