The Golfers in the Sun (GITS) was formed in 2016 as a group of golfing friends and has increased in numbers to over 40 friendly, social golfers who raise funds for various charities.
GITS have played at Salgados, Pinheiros Altos, Quinta do Vale, Castro Marim and Benamor to name but a few. They play from September to May and have between 16-36 players per event. New GITS are always welcome.
The last event was held at Castro Marim Golf in May. The winning couple was Simon and Bretta. Ken and Kelly came second, and Chris and Phil came third. Martin and Jane captured the booby prize, with Marc and Susan winning the longest drive competition and Ken bagging his second prize of the evening with the men’s nearest the pin. Thanks to Sarah at Borboletas, Almancil, for the evening meal.
The next large golf event will be at the end of September, but smaller groups will be playing in mid-July and the beginning of August (contact Susan Martin on 918 435 448 for full details).
GITS raise funds for several local charities, including the firefighters, the Helping Hands organisation and animal charities such as ARA, São Francisco kennel and Santa Barbara Animal Help.
