Anti-bullfighting protest in Albufeira

Bullring || Over 80 people took part in an anti-bullfighting demonstration held outside Albufeira’s bullring last Friday night (August 22), as state-owned television station RTP screened the event.
The demonstration was organised by activists group Cidade de Albufeira Anti-Touradas (CAAT) and included both Portuguese and foreigners.
It was said to be mostly peaceful, though protestors claim they were “attacked twice with water and bleach” despite the presence of GNR police
.
The group applauded the GNR on its Facebook page nonetheless, stressing its “exemplary attempts to keep the peace” which “doesn’t always happen in other areas of the country”.
The group has been in the news recently for its many protests outside Albufeira bullring – some of them televised.
