In another horrific case of domestic violence a 52-year-old woman was shot dead by her ex as she left her home in Leiria on Monday. Conceição Coelho had already appealed for police protection, and local PSP officers were evaluating her request as her former partner shot her at point-blank range and then made off in his car. As we went to press, João Silva, 40, was still on the run from police.
