… Another fine swoop: unclaimed bag yields 32 kilos of cocaine

For the second time this month another ‘major haul’ of cocaine has been found ‘languishing’ in unclaimed baggage at Lisbon airport.

Police ‘patrolling’ the baggage zone ‘detected a suspicious bag’, explains Lusa – not explaining exactly what made the bag ‘suspicious’ other than perhaps that no-one was claiming it (possibly because of the ‘patrolling police’…)

The agents thus ‘apprehended’ the bag, and ‘among other articles’ found within it was just over 32 kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of around 1.5 million euros.

Earlier this month, the airport registered a drugs haul record – six suitcases packed with over 208 kilos of cocaine, worth roughly €5.5 million, was discovered on a baggage carousel (click here).

This new case has been ‘passed to the Public Ministry’.
