Animal protection

A PET duck in New York State’s Suffolk County has been given an order of protection by a judge to keep it safe from a neighbour who sot and wounded it with a pellet gun.

Circles, a white, yellow-billed duck, was treated by a vet and survived being shot through the neck by a neighbour when it was in its owner’s garden.

Michelle Auletta, prosecutor at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, charged the neighbour with animal cruelty and awarded an order of protection for the duck.
