Animal magic! Yes, it is happening!

Animals do have their own magical aura. Their stabilising effect on humans is well known. Associations and societies dealing with our four-legged friends, whether feline or canine, know this to be true. A beak and feather or two? Furry, wet nosed and floppy-eared perhaps? All treasures.

Animal Rescue Algarve (ARA) has recently bestowed a certificate of appreciation to their friends Association for Protection of Animals Algarve (APAA).

This was ARA’s special way of thanking APAA for its support and in recognition for their tireless work, especially for promoting ‘Legacy for Pets’, which started almost a year ago when APAA president Jenny and ‘Pop-Up’ shop manager Anita went to ARA’s shelter Cabanita, outside of Loulé, to establish a bond of friendship and support.

“Legacy is more than just an idea,” Jenny acknowledges ARA’s project. “It is an important step for us humans to ensure that life continues for any animals in our care, should we become ill, or die.” A fact. “So, we know that with our pets looked after, we have a clear conscience. Enjoy them whilst we can, knowing they have a future – a home, love and safety!”

Last week, Jenny accompanied three couples to Cabanita to take in the idea of ‘Legacy’ and what it has to offer, and discuss their individual needs with Sid Richardson, founder of ARA, and their team. It is all about animals. Magic!

APAA’s main concern for the Algarve, SNiP, theSpaying & Neutering Programme, which aims to raise money to keep feral feline populations down, as well as helping with abandoned dogs and shelters and charities in need.

Don’t forget to pop-in to our charity shops in Alvor and Silves. Take stuff you no longer need. Find something you like or a gift. Holiday Inn’s refurbishment meant a windfall of paintings and mirrors landing in APAA’s lap. If you are interested, contact Jenny [email protected].
