Animal charities get together for Christmas fair and gala di

Animal charities across the Algarve are already getting into the festive spirit, with a Christmas fair and a gala dinner and dance planned for December.

The Association for the Protection of Animals in the Algarve (APAA) is holding a Christmas Fair on Saturday, December 5 from 10am until 2pm.

The venue will be the grounds of the Optimum Garden Furniture Showroom (near Aqualand on the EN125) in Alcantarilha.

Local arts and crafts experts will be attending and free space has been offered to the Donkey Sanctuary in Estômbar and an Aljezur-based dog charity.

APAA will be serving mulled wine and mince pies to get everyone in the Christmas mood as well as selling an array of marmalades, chutneys, bric a brac and used books. There will also be a tombola with exciting prizes.

Meanwhile, on December 13, three animal charities will be coming together to host a gala dinner and dance at the Paraíso Hotel in Albufeira, from 7.30pm. Charities involved are APAA, Amigos dos Gatos do Algarve (charity in aid of cats based in Albufeira) and Quintinha dos Animals in Goldra.

Organisers promise it will be an evening of entertainment with good music, dancing and food from an extensive buffet. Tickets cost 27.50 euros and include house wine, beer, soft drinks and water.
