Animal activists march in Lisbon

Hundreds took part this afternoon in the march organised every year by ANIMAL, the animal rights association which has been campaigning for improvements in the way Portugal treats its animals for the last 20 years. Today’s ‘theme’ was ‘Animals in the Constitution’ – for which a new petition has already gathered nearly 30,000 signatures. A previous petition, raised after thousands marched in the capital in January has raised three times that number, all because the current ‘animal protection law’ has been deemed ‘unconstitutional’.
