Angola’s BES banker causes ructions in Mauritius

If he thought investing in the French islands of Mauritius would be easy, former BES Angola banking boss Álvaro Sobrinho – unable to answer to the whereabouts of the bank’s missing €4.2 billion – has been disappointed. Opposition parties incensed over his ‘foot in the door’ with the country’s president, are demanding the latter’s resignation. Meantime, a Swiss court has ‘frozen’ €150 million said to belong to Sobrinho and his family.
