The Anglo Portuguese Society (APS) is looking for new members.
Created in 1938, the group aims to “promote and maintain the friendship between Portugal and the United Kingdom which goes back to the 14th century”.
APA was founded as a charitable body after a prominent group of businessmen with interests in Portugal and Portuguese Africa hosted a dinner in honour of the then recently-appointed Portuguese Ambassador Armindo Monteiro at the Dorchester Hotel in London.
Since then, it has tried to educate members about the “history, traditions and culture of the two countries through talks, planned visits, evening receptions and wine tastings”.
The next event will be a Summer Garden Party at the Hurlingham Club in Fulham, London on Tuesday, July 4. APS says other events will be held soon in Lisbon and the Algarve.
