An English-spoken fundraising theatre show to benefit a young man from São Brás who has been left a widower with infant twins is taking place in October at the local museum.
The money raised will go to help the twin daughters of Marius Stan, a 24-year-old man who became a widower in December after his wife died tragically of breast cancer.
São Brás deputy mayor Marlene Guerreiro says the town has shown “great solidarity” and joined forces to help the family, with “loads of food and clothing already donated”.
The Angels Theatre Group, which entertains for charity, had received a request from São Brás municipality to help the cause by staging a production and thus receive the support of the foreign community.
Since then, The Angels have been working on their next performance entitled Upstairs and Downstairs, which will be performed on October 2-3 at 8pm (bar opens at 6.30pm). It is a live musical revue set in the Victorian/Edwardian period.
The first half will be in the form of an after-dinner soirée for the local gentry, and the second half will be all the servants entertaining themselves in the kitchen below stairs.
Tickets at €15 (including supper) can be purchased at the São Brás Museum or the São Brás Gallery (next to the Cineteatro).
Advance ticket purchase is recommended.
