Members of the Angels Theatre Group are well known for their skills on stage and for the funds they raise from this.
However, the group has now expanded its charitable work and has recently joined a community project in São Brás de Alportel.
The members are now looking for people to donate any unwanted furniture, food, clothes or household items, which can be picked up for free, to be donated to São Brás Solidário, a new venture aimed at providing items for underprivileged members of the community.
Premises have already been donated by the parish council of São Brás to act as a re-distribution point for the items and the initiative will be officially launched during August.
A spokesman for the Angels Theatre Group said: “What may seem worthless to you makes the world of difference to people who, through no fault of their own, have only what they stand up in.
“We can arrange for large items, including furniture, to be picked up at no cost. The official opening of the facility is in August but there is an urgent need now for items.”
