It is the time of constant u-turns. The glow of Portugal’s performance under austerity has now dulled in the eyes of German chancellor Angela Merkel who has told a meeting of her CDU party congress that the crisis here “hasn’t been completely overcome” and there is no space for complacency. Merkel’s comments came in the same week that she has decided to drastically cut the number of refugees entering Germany.
Merkel’s comments conditioning the “successes” and “economic growth of Portugal” were also aimed at “Spain and especially Ireland”, reports TVI24.
