Half the angiographs used in Portugal’s hospitals are past their ‘sell-by’ dates. According to a new report on large-scale hospital equipment, 22 of the country’s 44 angiographs are over 10 years old.
This is the limit of their “acceptability”, writes Correio da Manhã. An angiography permits the diagnosis of tumours and strokes.
The Algarve, with two angiographs in the private sector, and the Alentejo, with one in the state system, are the areas worst affected by the situation, said the paper.
