Anantara Vilamoura welcomes renowned chefs for gastronomic pop-ups

Food lovers will have a series of special events to look forward to as Anantara Vilamoura prepares to host several gastronomic pop-up events featuring two renowned chefs.

The first series of events will take place between Wednesday and Saturday (July 19-22), with Spanish chef Paco Roncero (two Michelin stars) taking the helm at the resort’s Ria restaurant to present his own set menu, recreating his “multi-sensory gastronomic experience” using local products.

The menu will begin with a set of dishes including shrimp omelette; red mullet with pickled carrot; cod brandade tart with lemon; and salmon tartar in miso cream. Main courses will include shrimp salad with a “tomato cloud” and mantis shrimp infusion; lobster with olive oil and pink grapefruit soup; and hake with creamy meunière sauce infused with coffee. Meat lovers will also have the opportunity to try beef cheek with foyot sauce and endive salad, followed by a citrus dessert.

From August 1 to 4, it will be chef Rodrigo Castelo who will be in charge of the kitchen at Ria to offer an à la carte menu.

Castelo, who features in the Michelin Bib Gourmand list for his work at Ó Balcão in Santarém, will allow customers to try a variety of different dishes from the menu, which will feature  traditional dishes with a contemporary twist, predominantly using local ingredients. His famous grilled chicken, prepared in the style of a barbecue, and other meats with homemade sauces and accompaniments will be highlighted.

Chef Rodrigo Castelo follows a “Zero Waste” cooking style, ensuring no food is wasted in his kitchen.

These “gastronomic pop-up events” are part of the resort’s “commitment and strategy to reaffirm Anantara Vilamoura’s position as one of the most attractive hotels in the Algarve, also in terms of its gastronomy,” says Wael Soueid, General Manager of Anantara Vilamoura Resort.

“Besides having highly distinctive styles, the chefs offer a unique interpretation of the various ways of using seasonal ingredients, creating innovative menus for our guests and the local community,” he adds.

The dinner presented by Paco Roncero will cost €115 per person, with standard and premium wine pairing available for €50 or €75 per person, respectively.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo Castelo’s à lá carte menu will feature main courses with prices starting at €18.50.
