The Rio dos Cocos, a lazy and fun river for all the family at Zoomarine

An ocean of fun!

Since its foundation, 32 years ago, Zoomarine has kept its focus – to transport adults and children to a world of dream and fantasy, creating unique emotions and sensations, while promoting knowledge, preservation and environmental education in a fun way. A magical place that offers much more than you would expect to find in just one park, bringing together three components – Zoological, Aquatic and Amusements – and making it one of the most complete parks in Europe.

Presenting a novelty has also been one of the park’s commitments to its visitors, and this year’s new attraction is set to be the ultimate thrill ride for adrenaline lovers and water park enthusiasts alike.  Quetzal is a 178 metre, two-track fast-paced water slide that will perfectly complement the offer of the park.

The dolphins, seals and sea lions’ presentations, as well as those of the tropical birds and birds of prey are already well-known to the public. In addition to giving a close-up view of these animals, they bring up key issues regarding the preservation of the environment, its species and their habitats, making these moments an opportunity to raise awareness to the importance of respecting nature. As Baba Dioum, a renowned Senegalese scientist, used to say “In the end we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand; and we will understand only what we are taught.”.

The park also has several zoological habitats – the Americas, showcasing several species from the South American continent; the more recent Butterfly Garden, an immersive tropical habitat with over 500 colourful butterflies; and the fascinating Oceanus, which features over 20 marine ecosystems including a huge aquarium with several species of sharks and rays.

Zoomarine also offers a range of water and mechanical attractions for those looking for a real family adventure – a lazy river, Zoomarine’s wave beach, dedicated water playgrounds for the younger ones, a mini roller-coaster, carrousels and a 4D cinema. With all of that to offer, Zoomarine is indeed an ocean of fun!
