The Pennsylvania State University Men’s Glee Club performed to a full house at the inaugural show of the 23rd Lagoa Choir Week, held at the Carlos do Carmo auditorium on Sunday, May 14.
Those in attendance highlighted the “beautiful work” that was performed by the American choir, which included students of the university and members of the Penn State Glee Club.
The performers were directed by Christopher Kiver while the soloist was Jennifer Trost, a mezzo soprano, accompanied by Rachel Flicker on the piano.
The Choir Week also features an open choir rehearsal, due to take place on Wednesday evening (after the Resident went to press) at CEFLA (Centro de Estudos e Formação de Lagoa) from 8pm to 9pm.
Three choirs will bring the festival to a close on Saturday, May 20, with the Grupo Coral Ossónoba (Faro), Coral Almira (Alcácer do Sal) and Coral Ideias do Levante all due to perform at the Santo António church in Mexilhoeira da Carregação at 5pm.
The concert is free to attend but tickets must be booked in advance online.
The Lagoa Choir Week is organised by Ideias do Levante, a local association dedicated to promoting culture in the borough.
