THE SILVES bombeiros are asking readers of The Resident for help to raise 3,300 euros to purchase a top-of-the-range, second hand ambulance from Switzerland.
The ambulance costs 9,300 euros. Angela Schulz-Henke and her team of fundraising volunteers have already raised 6,000 euros towards the cost and are now asking 66 readers to donate 50 euros each to raise the final sum.
The Silves bombeiros urgently need that ambulance as many people have to be transported from Portimão hospital to either Lisbon or Evora.
