British Ambassador Jill Gallard is to visit the Algarve on October 20 to take part in a consular outreach event in Albufeira organised by the British Consulate in Portimao.
This event is a further initiative in the “Consulate in the Community” project, and will also see the participation of the British Consul in Portimao, Clive Jewell.
This will be the British Ambassador’s first visit to the Algarve since taking up her post in July.
The event, which is expected to last around two hours, is at the Hotel Vila Gale Cerro Alagoa, in Albufeira, starting at 10.30am.
British Consul Clive Jewell will be speaking about some of the most frequent consular emergency situations that consular staff in Portugal have to deal with.
Guest speakers will include Geoffrey Graham from Anglo-Portuguese law firm Neville de Rougement, who will be giving advice on the importance of making a will as a British resident in Portugal and David Thomas, founder and director of the Algarve based security business ISECA.
There will be around 140 free places at the talks, and those interested in attending need to confirm their presence by registering on the British Embassy website www.ukinportugal.fco.gov.uk.
Pre-registration is imperative in order to secure a place at the event. When registering, people will also have the opportunity to lodge a question that they would like to be covered at the event. These questions should be of a general nature, of interest to a wide number of people attending.
