The Lisbon and Porto coliseums are to receive one of the freshest voices and one of the most revolutionary composers in Brazilian music, Vanessa da Mata.
She is coming to Portugal to promote her third album, Sim (Yes), which includes the single Boa Sorte, a duet with North American Ben Harper. The single was one of the summer’s most successful songs.
Vanessa da Mata was born in 1976, in Alto Garças, Mato Grosso in western Brazil. She grew up listening to all kinds of music, from the king of baião (typical Northeastern Brazilian music) Luiz Gonzaga, to bossa nova genius, Tom Jobim, Milton Nascimento’s stunning voice and romantic Brazilian singer Orlando Silva.
At the age of 15, she started singing in local bars and from then, Vanessa has not stopped singing.
Her latest work, released this year, was produced by Mário Caldato and Kassin and recorded in studios in Jamaica and Brazil. Five of the 13 tracks feature reggae legends Sly and Robbie. The title was chosen by Vanessa because it is an optimistic answer to life.
This Thursday (November 15) in Lisbon and Friday (November 16) in Porto are the opportunities to hear the great sound of Vanessa da Mata. The shows begin at 10pm.
