A man is suspected of having stolen nearly a tonne of aluminium from a luxury villa in the Lagos area on Tuesday this week. The material, worth more than €800, was sold to a local scrap yard.
The GNR seized the material after relatives of the property owner, a builder, raised the alert. Another villa in the area, belonging to a British citizen, is believed to have been targeted by thieves for the same purpose, aluminium; however, the authorities have not confirmed the incident.
A kilo of aluminium costs around 80/90 cents on the market.
