Alterations to train timetable

DUE TO the increase in demand for transport via the train network during the summer, particularly in coastal areas such as the Algarve, Comboios de Portugal (CP) has responded by introducing alterations to its regular train timetable.

From July 9 onwards, CP increased its services by 12.5 per cent, adding nine extra trains in each direction per day, between Faro and Lagos. In addition, an extra service is running between Faro and Tavira, bringing the route’s daily total of services to 30 (15 in each direction).

Trains will leave at the same minutes past each hour between Faro and the cities of Lagos, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António, and at the following frequencies: between Faro and Lagos and between Faro and Vila Real de Santo António, every hour during rush hour, and once every two hours outside rush hour; between Faro and Tavira, the trains run every hour throughout the day.

CP hopes that with the introduction of these new improved timetables, and connections to other services, consumer demand will be fully met. Longo Curso, Alfa Pendular and Intercidades services continue at Faro and Tunes stations.
