Alqueva dam

Alqueva dam already has enough water for next three years

With dams throughout the majority of the country recovering their levels after two years of drought, the gigantic Alqueva dam (bordering Beja and Évora) is reported to have enough water to serve populations and local industry for the next three years. By the beginning of this month, water levels had risen 4.5 metres. There are only 2 metres to go for the dam to be at full capacity… and it is still raining!
