Since the start of the pandemic, 4,690 houses have been removed from the Alojamento Local (‘AL’ short-term holiday rentals) regime in Lisbon and Porto, but other areas are seeing an increase. Say figures published by ALEP (the Portuguese AL association), the number of units in Lisbon has fallen for the first time, numbers in Porto have ‘stagnated’, but areas like Bragança, Guarda and Portalegre are growing.
