Almost two thirds of new jobless from real estate sector

Almost two-thirds of the new unemployed registered at mainland Portugal job centres in July came from the real estate sector – one of the sectors most affected by the changes in monetary policy that are being reflected in the housing market. The number of registered jobseekers on the mainland totalled 245,864 in July, an increase of 9,775 compared to the same month last year and 6,345 compared to June, according to data from the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) released on today.
