Despite all the official guidance – and threats of fines – “almost half the Portuguese” spent Easter away from home. This is the contention of a study by statistics firm PSE and cited by Público today. PSE claims that between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, 54% of Portuguese remained at home. Bearing in mind the population numbers 10.2 million, 54% would mean that 5,508,000 complied with the country’s State of Emergency restrictions. Says Público, this is actually 27% less than the numbers that remained at home during Easter 2020.
