Almost 90% of ambulances without ‘EpiPens’

Medical emergency teams have drawn attention to a complete non-sequitur when it comes to saving the lives of people suffering from anaphylactic shock: teachers and non-teaching staff in schools are to start being trained in how to react to severe cases of food allergies in pupils -which involves being instructed on how to use life-saving EpiPens (epinephrine auto-injectors – yet regulations prohibit 90% of ambulance crew from using these instruments, which can, and do, make all the difference. The national association of emergency technicians calls the situation “incomprehensible”.
