Today’s DGS Covid bulletin has recorded just under 40,000 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 registered in the last 24-hours. It also comes against the backdrop of the latest ‘situation report’ by experts, which believe the time that case numbers alone were pivotal has long since past. The vast majority of these cases are asymptomatic, or light. However, due to their abundance, more people ARE still ending up in hospital – not in intensive care units, but on general Covid wards. Today’s bulletin attests to a further 48 hospital admissions, 14 deaths and over 14,000 ‘recoveries’. Incidence has leapt to 2,114.3 cases per 100,000, while Rt is slightly down on 1.41.
