FOLLOWING a lengthy investigation, the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) has apprehended two men, aged 17 and 20, who are suspected of being involved in a series of robberies in the Comarca do Seixal and Almada areas.
The operation involved Setúbal and Almada police, whose combined work led to the location and identification of the two suspects, as well as the collection of substantial evidence relating to the crime, which caused much alarm in the area south of the Tejo. The PJ seized cars, mobile phones, gold jewellery and watches – all collected from a series of robberies. Apparently, the robbers forced their victims to drive them in cars, that they would later steal, to Multibanco machines to withdraw cash.
Despite their young age, the robbers were armed with guns and used frightening behaviour to terrorise their victims into handing over cash and belongings. The men are currently in police custody awaiting a court appearance.
