ALLGARVE 08, a programme of cultural and sporting events in the Algarve for the summer season, was unveiled at the Regional Tourist Board (RTA) on Friday May 30.
This is the second edition of the highly successful events schedule, designed to encourage participation in various activities by residents of the Algarve and tourists to the region.
The Allgarve agenda encompasses music, art, sport, gastronomy and dance and is held at venues throughout the

The organisers and their collaborators, including the Câmaras of the Algarve, Turismo de Portugal and private companies, have aimed to provide something for everyone this summer.
Making an appearance at the presentation was Bernardo Trindade, the Secretary of State for Tourism, and Frederico Costa, the Vice-President of Turismo de Portugal.

Various representatives responsible for the different aspects of Allgarve presented their own specialist agendas with descriptions of what each event would consist of.
This included presentations from the coordinators of the contemporary art programme, Allgarve Jazz and a representative from the musical programme.
A spokesman for the RTA described the schedule as a “very interesting programme of events”.

arts said: “We have had much more time to prepare our programme this year so we hope to have better expositions.”
Highlights of the Allgarve season include the Portuguese Ladies Open golf tournament, Simply Red in concert, a performance by Herbie Hancock, exhibitions by world class contemporary artists such as James Turrell and Silves Medieval Fair.
