A Brazilian man who is wanted by authorities in Brazil for “drug trafficking and criminal activities” has been arrested in Loulé this week. The man is believed to belong to Comando Vermelho, the “largest criminal organisation in Rio de Janeiro”.
The 32-year-old was arrested after an international arrest warrant was issued by Interpol and will remain in police custody, PJ police have announced.
Says Lusa news agency, Comando Vermelho is described as the largest criminal organisation in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro and was formed by political prisoners and other inmates in the 1980s. It is said to control several ‘favelas’ (slums) in Rio de Janeiro.
