All roads now open despite ongoing wildfires

The commander of Portugal’s National Authority for Civil Protection (ANPC), André Fernandes, has announced that traffic has returned to normal on the country’s roads, with no more stretches closed, despite the ongoing fires. The information was given as part of the lunchtime update, before the situation on the Odemira/ Aljezur borders, and in Leiria, deteriorated. Fears this afternoon are that reignitions on the Algarve borders could see fires move into the borough of Monchique.
