All change at Algarve health authority

Paulo Morgado is the Algarve’s new health boss, replacing João Moura Reis as the president of the regional health authority (ARS Algarve).

Morgado is a 56-year-old doctor who has worked at several regional health centres and hospitals and been part of Portimão’s hospital board as well as the regional Social Security institute.

He took over his new role on Wednesday (March 1) after Moura Reis announced his “job was done”.

“Things are prepared so that they can evolve,” he told regional news website Sulinformação, adding that he will be pursuing “other challenges outside the Algarve, but within the State healthcare system”.

Also joining ARS Algarve is Josélia Gonçalves, replacing outgoing Nuno Ramos.
