To celebrate its 80th anniversary as a city, Portimão Câmara is laying on a series of informative exhibitions and interesting events between now and the end of the year. To kick off the celebrations, Portimão commercial docks welcomed two huge sailing ships into port – the Sagres, a Portuguese training vessel, and German training ship, the Gorch Fock. Other celebratory events taking place in Portimão include displays from some of the best show jumpers in the world, between September 23 and 26. On October 1 and 2, Portimão will celebrate World Music Day with live bands performing on the city’s streets, there will be photographic exhibitions, an autumn theatre programme and much, much more – so keep your eye on our What’s On pages.
