Aljustrel hosts food and wine fair

FOR THE fourth consecutive year, wine will be the main attraction at Vin&Cultura – Ervidel, a festival taking place this weekend in Ervidel, Aljustrel (lower Alentejo).

As well as wine, focus will be on the Grão de Bico de Ervidel (chickpeas from Ervidel), a product of particular quality, which is highly sought after by restaurants serving Alentejo style cuisine.

Six wine producers will be included in the wine cellar tour this year, including well-known names such as Saraiva, Moreira, Chaveiro, Raposo, Varrasquinho and Amador. In a celebration of tradition and culture, there will also be a demonstration of how olive oil is produced using an ancient press, which has been acquired by Aljustrel Câmara to use during this show.

The main activities of the Vin&Cultura event will take place alongside the public park, but the festivities will extend throughout the area. There will be a tour of the area’s wineries with wine tasting, music shows and street entertainment, exhibitions, stalls selling traditional wares and guided tours of the village.

So, if you fancy a taste of the real Portugal, this is an event not to be missed!
