ALJEZUR IS to become the first tourist destination in the Algarve with the facilities to receive blind and partially sighted visitors.
According to Aljezur Câmara, the council project proposes the creation of a tourist guide adapted to the needs of the blind and those with sight problems, so that they can get to know the borough. The guides will be available at the tourism information offices in Aljezur and Odeceixe, the Câmara, Juntas de Freguesia and museums throughout the region.
In addition, points of interest within the borough, which regularly receive tourists, will be supplied with audio equipment and information boards in Braille.
The project is the result of an agreement between Aljezur Câmara and the Associação de Cegos e Amblíopes (ACAPO), the association for the blind and partially sighted.
