SEVEN HUNDRED residents in Aljezur have signed a petition to Mário Lino, Minister for Public Buildings, Transport and Communications requesting an alternative road to the EN120.
Due to an increase in heavy goods vehicles using the road, residents say the present situation is dangerous. Although no serious accidents have been reported involving vehicles, several buildings have been damaged.
Aljezur Câmara is aware of the problem which, according to local residents, has been steadily worsening over the past 15 years. Manual Marreiros, President of Aljezur Câmara has contacted the ministry concerned and has been told that a viability study is being carried out to decide on the possible construction of the IC4 as an alternative. To date, no further information has been made available.
